The Mel Meter 8704R was first developed by Gary Galka of DAS Distribution Inc as a way of communicating with his daughter Melissa, following her death. The Mel was even named after her; the year of her birth (87) and the year of her death (04) hence the name Mel 8704.
This highly sensitive, hand-held meter is designed to detect AC/DC EMF sources and you can either choose to measure in MG (milliGauss) or uT (micro-Tesla).
The Mel Meter is a quick and reliable way of measuring electromagnetic field radiation levels around power lines, home appliances and industrial devices. It features 3 EMF measuring ranges (20 to 200 micro Tesla / 2000 micro Tesla and 200 mG/2000 mG/20000 mG) and can measure different bandwidths down to 50 Hz/60 Hz.
The temperature function of this meter works using the K type thermocouple sensor (included) which has a fast response time. Not only does this meter measure EMF and temperature, but it also has an infrared safe red backlight and torch.
