If you need to take temperature from a distance, then an infrared thermometer like this one is ideal. What makes this thermometer so useful is that it fits perfectly in your hand, allowing for simple one handed operation.

Using laser alignment, this is a non contact thermometer which can indicate temperature over the range of -33 to +250°C with a resolution of 0.1°C. The distance to target ratio is 6:1 and incorporates maximum, minimum and lock (continuous) functions, switchable between °C and °F.

It is very easy to use, as you just aim the thermometer at the item that you wish to measure and then press the button on the side to display the surface temperature.

The infrared thermometer is supplied with a default emissivity of 0.95; however, the emissivity can be changed from 0.01 to 1.
