Featuring a range of up to 20 million ions, this meter is designed to measure near electric ionizers and other strong ion sources. Use this Air Ion Counter to detect both natural and artificial ions.
Natural ions include those generated from the decay of radioactive minerals and radon gas and ions generated by fires, lightning, evaporating water and storm activity. Artificial sources include ion generators, improperly grounded air conditioning vents, combustion vapour and electrically charged or heated surfaces.
Three ranges are available on the model from 199,900 ions/ Cm³, 1,999,000 ions/cm³ and 19,990,000 ions/cm³. A 20 ft long ground cord is supplied which should be used for a majority of the measurements.
To measure, polarity can be selected using the dial on the front of the counter. Once the “measure” switch is flipped, the fan will turn on and the display will then show the correct number of thousands of ions per cubic centimetre in the air.
Due to the wind guard and fan, the Air Ion Counter 2 can achieve accurate readings even in adverse conditions such as gusty winds or strong electrostatic fields.
